The United States has minted the first batch of commemorative gold coins featuring President Donald Trump, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the country's independence. The White House reported this, UNN writes.

Details

The coin is made of 24-karat gold. The obverse features Trump, as well as the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "1776–2026". The reverse features a bald eagle, one of the symbols of the United States.

The issuance of a coin featuring the incumbent president was an unusual decision for the United States, as the country's tradition calls for not depicting living people on money. At the same time, American officials point to exceptions for commemorative coins. In particular, in 1926, the then-president Calvin Coolidge was depicted on a commemorative coin marking the 150th anniversary of the United States.

Earlier, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts approved the design of a 24-karat gold commemorative coin featuring Trump. The president is depicted leaning on a table, while the reverse features a bald eagle.

At the same time, this coin differs from another commemorative $1 coin bearing Trump's portrait, which the U.S. Mint plans to put into circulation in the fall of 2026. The official design of the dollar coin provides for a portrait of the president on the obverse and the presidential seal with an eagle on the reverse.

In the US, commemorative passports with Trump's image will be issued starting in August31.07.26, 01:57
