On Thursday, March 20, troops of the official Sudanese army reached a distance of 500 meters from the presidential palace, which was captured two years ago by the paramilitary RSF (Rapid Support Forces). This was reported by a military source to Agence France-Presse. An AFP correspondent reported that explosions and gunfire were heard in Khartoum.
During the advance to the center of Khartoum, the troops "destroyed a column of 30 Rapid Support Forces vehicles that were trying to retreat to the south,"
