Peskov denied risks to fuel supplies following drone attacks on Russian refineries. He also attributed the reduction in production to scheduled maintenance.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Russia sees no risks to fuel supplies in response to a Reuters report about reduced oil refining in the central part of the country following recent Ukrainian drone attacks, UNN reports.

Details

Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure, doubling the number of targeted oil refineries since the beginning of the year, as evidenced by numerous reports from Russian officials on social media.

"No, the Kremlin sees no such risks. Indeed, production may be decreasing in some regions. By the way, this is also related to seasonal maintenance work," Peskov said during a daily briefing, answering a question about possible risks to fuel supplies.

"In general, the entire fuel balance is calculated and has the necessary compensation system," he added.

Among the attacked oil refineries are the Kirishi refinery in western Russia, the Moscow refinery, as well as facilities in Nizhny Novgorod on the Volga, Ryazan, and Yaroslavl.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian drones struck Rosneft's Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region overnight.
