European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that she is open to negotiations with the United States of America, while noting that Europe continues to focus on diversifying its trade partnerships.

At the same time, Europe continues to focus on diversifying its trade partnerships, working with countries that account for 87% of global trade and share our commitment to the free and open exchange of goods, services and ideas.
Separately, von der Leyen noted that the European Union is stepping up efforts to remove barriers in the internal market:
This crisis has made one thing clear: in times of uncertainty, the single market is our anchor of stability and resilience.
She assured that her team will continue to work to protect the interests of European consumers, businesses and workers, and expressed confidence that "Europeans will emerge stronger from this crisis."
