Texas teenage girl Aubrey Vanlandingham has been charged with animal cruelty after she was accused of poisoning and killing a rival goat at a competition, UNN reports citing The Guardian.

It is reported that 17-year-old Aubrey Vanlandingham used a gun to force-feed a toxic pesticide to a goat named Willie. In addition, there is information that Vanlandingham confessed to intentionally poisoning the animal. This was also recorded by CCTV cameras. The goat died about 21 hours after it began to convulse and showed signs of respiratory distress.
An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was organophosphate intoxication with phosmet, a pesticide commonly used for external parasite control in pets. The girl confessed to the police that she had deliberately poisoned the goat because she considered the owner of the animal a “fraud.” She said it was her second attempt to kill the goat.
Investigators who reviewed her phone call history found that she was looking for information about “how much bleach can kill an animal” and “pet poisoning, what you should know.” She also allegedly searched for “how to clear my search history.
Aubrey Vanlandingham faces up to two years in prison if found guilty of animal cruelty. The mother of the 15-year-old girl whose goat was killed said her family wants “justice” and hopes Vanlandingham will receive a prison sentence if she is found guilty.
