Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced plans to increase the period of preparation of military personnel for participation in combat operations to 2 months, to ensure 14-day adaptation of recruits in brigades and to update the standards of the BGMT, UNN reports.

"We are currently working on creating conditions for the preparation for combat operations to last 2 months in total. After all, high-quality training means, first of all, the preservation of the lives and health of our soldiers. In accordance with the decisions I have made, we already have the first graduates of servicemen who have undergone basic general military training (BGMT) for 1.5 months - instead of the previous 30-day training," Syrsky wrote on social media.
"The further training of a newcomer in a military unit is supposed to last 5-14 days. However, in the current conditions of intense hostilities, this requirement is not always met. He emphasized the need to ensure a full 14-day adaptation period for new recruits in brigades. Commanders must prepare soldiers for the challenges of modern warfare as much as possible to keep them in combat," the Chief of Staff said.
Syrsky said this following the annual meeting on military training. He also said that he had heard reports on training problems and their solutions.
"I have identified tasks to improve the quality of training and increase it. In particular, updating the standards of the BGMT, conducting the BGMT at the facilities of combat brigades, etc.
