"Spider-Man" grossed $39 million over the weekend at 4,006 theaters in the United States and Canada. The film’s total North American gross exceeded $854.9 million.
The film is approaching the result of "Avengers: Endgame" and may soon become the second-highest-grossing domestic release in history. For now, second place is held by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," with $936.7 million.
The horror film "Insidious: Out of the Further" took second place at the box office, earning $25.3 million in its opening weekend at 3,303 theaters in the United States and Canada. Outside North America, the film additionally grossed $35 million.
"The Odyssey" sets a Nolan record
"The Odyssey" grossed $19.5 million in North America during its sixth weekend, bringing its domestic total to nearly $539.1 million. Thus, the film surpassed the result of "The Dark Knight," which had previously been Nolan’s highest-grossing film in the United States and Canada, with $534.9 million.
Overseas, "The Odyssey" earned another $68 million, bringing its worldwide total to $1.4 billion. Earlier this week, the film also became the highest-grossing R-rated film in history, surpassing "Deadpool & Wolverine."
The other new releases delivered significantly weaker results. The Jason Statham action film "Mutiny" opened in sixth place with $7.5 million, while the comedy "Spa Weekend" earned approximately $3.1 million.
Overall, the North American summer box office has already generated approximately $4.4 billion, making the current season one of the four highest-grossing in history. Year-to-date box office revenue has also exceeded $7 billion—approximately 20.4% higher than during the same period in 2025.
