Reportedly, according to the case file, in his communication with the faithful, the archpriest praised Putin and called for support for racists. He also disseminated pro-Kremlin narratives among the members of the religious community via Telegram.
During the searches of the cleric's apartment, a cell phone and computer equipment used by him to spread hostile propaganda were seized.
Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators served the rector of the church a notice of suspicion under Art. 1, 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of the lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The cleric is currently under round-the-clock house arrest. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
He faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
