The Odesa Regional Military Administration is working to strengthen the security of the region on an ongoing basis. In particular, it creates mobile fire groups and purchases vehicles for their work. This was stated during a press conference by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, UNN reports.
The situation in Odesa region is much better today than it was before. The President promised, and he does not forget about Odesa, he is constantly supporting us, and this is not the end. We are closing certain processes thanks to the capabilities of our partners, in the course of our diplomatic agreements. For our part, we are creating many mobile fire groups - we have increased their number many times over. It is around our neck, so to speak. We provide them with full support and purchase pickup trucks for their work. We are looking for them. We buy them together with the business. We buy used ones, because they cost 10-12 thousand euros per pickup truck, while a new one costs more than 40 thousand euros. We'd rather buy 3-4 used ones for that kind of money
However, not all Russian attacks can be repelled, Kiper admits.
"Yes, there are issues, the shahids still fly over. But let's not forget that Odesa region is very large, the distance from Ochakiv to Izmail is more than 400 kilometers. In addition, the first line that comes from the sea from the Crimea, not everything can be blocked, the enemy is constantly monitoring the situation, bypassing it.
We had cases when drones flew into Izmail via Romania. Some were coming through Moldova, and we didn't even see them. They came in from behind. Some did not even have time to enter - they fell on Romanian territory," he said.
