Kalashnyk emphasized that, on State Flag Day, Russian forces had already attacked Ukrainian railway facilities five times. As a result of the strike on the electric train in Kharkiv region, one passenger was killed and four more people were injured.

He explained that, due to the threat of an attack, the train was stopped in advance and passengers began to be evacuated. Most people, together with the train crew, moved to a safe distance from the railway infrastructure. However, some passengers remained near the train.

"This had fatal consequences.  I express my condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. I wish those injured a speedy recovery," Kalashnyk said.

He also stressed that during an evacuation, it is necessary to strictly follow the railway workers’ instructions and not remain near the rolling stock because of the risk of repeated strikes.

According to Kalashnyk, Russian forces attacked this electric train for a second time while rescuers were already working. No one was injured in the repeated strike.
