Ukraine offered Russia to exchange prisoners of war who profess Islam and are Catholics in a ratio of 1 to 4 with the return of more Russian prisoners, but Russia refused this offer even after the Pope's call for a prisoner exchange.

Ukraine proposed to Russia to exchange prisoners of war who profess Islam and are Catholics according to a 1-to-4 formula, in which the number of prisoners returned to Russia would exceed the number returned to Ukraine. However, Russia refused such an exchange. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, UNN reports.

Tomorrow, Muslims around the world will celebrate the end of the fast, Oraza Bayram. In addition, on March 31, Catholics celebrated Easter. On this occasion, Ukraine initiated the exchange of prisoners of war who profess Islam and are Catholics

- Lubinets said.

He noted that Ukraine proposed a 1-to-4 exchange formula, in which the number of prisoners returned to Russia would exceed the number returned by the Ukrainian side.

The list offered by Ukraine to the Russian side for exchange included 1 Catholic and 146 Muslims. However, Russia ignored the proposed lists. As we can see, even the Pope's message did not motivate the Russians to carry out the exchange either under the "all for all" formula or under other conditions

- Lubinets added.

The Ombudsman emphasized that despite this unreasonable behavior of the Russian side, Ukraine expresses its readiness to carry out an exchange under the "all for all" formula on the occasion of the Orthodox Easter.

Lubinets has also already sent such a proposal to the Russian Federation and appealed to the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova.
