In the second half of this year, the Russian Federation changed the tactics of missile strikes against Ukraine. British intelligence explained that on the night of December 12-13, 2024, Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine.
As in the attacks in November and earlier, Russian long-range and tactical aircraft were involved, launching various types of cruise missiles and air-launched ballistic missiles
According to them, the air assets were supported by SAGARIS land-based cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea Fleet assets, as well as by kamikaze drones used from several launch points.
It is noted that approximately 90 missiles were used in total, along with at least 180 kamikaze drones.
Starting in August 2024, it is very likely that Russia has chosen to stockpile between strikes and then conduct larger and less frequent waves of attacks, as opposed to the more regular and smaller attacks that were conducted earlier this year
According to them, the composition and targets of the December 12-13 attack were similar to previous attacks, focusing on Ukraine's critical national infrastructure and industry, as well as attempts to suppress Ukraine's air defense and airfields by saturating them with kamikaze drones.
British intelligence concluded that “Russia retains the capability and stockpiles to use such means on a smaller scale as a punitive measure with little or no warning.
