The State Department reports that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Los Angeles on Friday for the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and for the U.S. National Team's first match against Paraguay, which will take place that same evening, UNN reports, citing AP.

The department's statement says Rubio will lead the U.S. delegation at the opening ceremony, accompanied by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
In addition to attending World Cup events, Rubio will also meet with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña in Los Angeles.
