We are investigating war crimes in the Kyiv region as possible elements of the genocide that Russia is trying to commit against the Ukrainian people. This was stated by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin during a telethon, UNN reports.
"We are investigating these crimes as possible elements of the genocide that Russia is trying to commit against the Ukrainian people. In particular, prosecutors are providing procedural guidance in the criminal proceedings on the massacres in Bucha in February-March 2022. This proceeding involves 268 criminal offenses related to the killings of more than 350 civilians, which can potentially be classified as genocidal," the Prosecutor General said.
He emphasized that the task of prosecutors is to analyze these proceedings and answer the question of which criminal acts have all the necessary elements to qualify these individual crimes as part of a large campaign to destroy the Ukrainian nation - genocide. We will see the full picture of these crimes only after the liberation of all occupied territories.
