According to law enforcement officials, the family of a 49-year-old man who died suddenly made the decision to give a chance at life to another person, who is currently 16 years old.
As noted by the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, police officers transported the organ accompanied by doctors to a helicopter. Subsequently, the container with the donor heart was delivered to the M. M. Amosov National Memorial Institute of Cardio-Vascular Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Footage of the unique operation has appeared online. Patrol police provided professional escort and saved every possible minute in transit, the police noted.
