Negotiations between US delegations and representatives of the region where Sudan is located have begun in Switzerland. The goal: to achieve a ceasefire to bring much more humanitarian aid to the country for millions of people.

Peace talks on Sudan have begun between US and regional delegations. US Representative Tom Perriello announced via social media that the first meeting with "international and technical partners" had opened.
However, only one of the two parties to the conflict has accepted the US invitation to negotiate. The Sudanese army is also not represented.
According to Perriello, in the absence of the army, the primary focus will be on technical issues, such as how to get more humanitarian aid into the country.
The general expectation is to deliver much more humanitarian aid to the country for millions of people. The key question is how to achieve a real ceasefire in Sudan.
