In January, Ukrainian banks granted 676 mortgage loans worth UAH 1.1 billion, according to the monthly survey of banks on mortgage loans by the NBU, UNN reports .
The NBU conducts a monthly survey of mortgage lending by banks, and this month's results are as follows:
- The volume of mortgage loans granted to households in January 2024 decreased by one third compared to the previous month (December 2023), but at the same time exceeds the figure for the same period last year (January 2023) by more than two times;
- 7 banks that financed housing purchases reported issuing new mortgages in January. As before, the majority of transactions are made on the secondary real estate market;
- The main driver in the mortgage segment remains the promotion of preferential lending under the "eOselya" program, as almost all loans issued over the past year were granted under this program;
Over the past three months, the weighted average effective interest rate on mortgage loans in January remained stable at 7.6% per annum. In January 2024, the largest volume of mortgage loans was issued in Kyiv and Kyiv region, accounting for 50% of the total volume. Significant volumes of loans were also issued in Odesa, Lviv, and Vinnytsia regions.
