Oslo Gardermoen Airport in Norway will be closed to air traffic for five hours on Sunday, August 23, due to an air traffic controllers' strike. This was reported by the Finnish outlet Yle, citing the Norwegian newspaper VG and the state-owned company Avinor, which is responsible for operating a number of the country's airports, UNN writes.
Details
The restrictions will come into effect at 6:30 a.m. local time. The reason is the continuation of the air traffic controllers' strike, which began on Friday and has already led to flight cancellations.
In particular, Norwegian canceled more than 70 flights, affecting approximately 9,000 passengers. Delays and disruptions to air traffic are expected to continue on Sunday.
The parties have not yet found a solution
According to VG, there are currently no signs that the strike will end soon. The main cause of the labor dispute is disagreements over breaks for air traffic controllers.
