U.S. officials said Tuesday that Mike Needham will leave his post as director of policy planning at the State Department to work full-time at the White House as deputy national security advisor.
Needham, a veteran of the conservative Heritage Foundation who served as Rubio's chief of staff at the start of Trump's second term before moving to the policy planning department, has already spent significant time at the White House with Rubio.
Dan Holler, Rubio's current chief of staff, will take over the policy planning position at the State Department, government officials said.
