Residents of Odesa and the Odesa district are experiencing a pungent smell of smoke due to smoldering vegetation on irrigation fields. According to authorities, the area of smoldering is about 8 hectares, and air quality indicators currently do not indicate a critical deterioration. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, as reported by UNN.
Today, many residents of Odesa and the Odesa district are experiencing a pungent smell of smoke. This is due to the smoldering of vegetation on irrigation fields around the city
He noted that the situation is under the control of all relevant services. Such processes are typical for hot weather and depend, in particular, on the direction and strength of the wind.
Currently, ecologists are monitoring the atmospheric air. As of now, the indicators do not indicate a critical deterioration in its quality.
Work to eliminate the burning of dry grass and reeds on irrigation fields has been ongoing since July 20. The area of smoldering is about 8 hectares. Rescuers from the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region have deployed the necessary forces and resources. The elimination of the fire is complicated by the lack of access to the smoldering sites and the need to suspend work each time during air raid alerts
All services continue to work on the complete elimination of the smoldering sites. At the same time, specialists are constantly monitoring the state of the atmospheric air. In case of its deterioration, necessary measures will be promptly taken.
According to forecasts, with a change in wind direction, the situation will gradually improve, and the smell of smoke will decrease.
Until then, specialists recommend that people with respiratory diseases, allergies, the elderly, pregnant women, and families with young children, if possible, limit prolonged exposure to open air where the smell of smoke is felt, keep windows closed, and maintain adequate drinking regimen.
If after being outside you feel a deterioration in your health, you should consult your family doctor
He also asked to remain calm and use information only from official sources.
