The occupiers are promoting tourism as the foundation of the Donetsk region's economy instead of the destroyed industry. The CCD calls this propaganda to conceal the consequences of the war.

Against the backdrop of war-torn industry in the Donetsk region, the occupation authorities are promoting the development of tourism as the alleged basis for economic recovery. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defense Council, according to UNN.

The occupation authorities in the Donetsk region are increasingly emphasizing the development of tourism as one of the main tools for restoring the local economy. At the same time, the collapse of industry, which was a consequence of the war and Russian occupation, is being ignored,

- the report says.

The so-called Ministry of Economic Development of the "DPR" claims that tourism and the hospitality industry should become the basis for the growth of production and the agro-industrial complex. Such statements sound like a mockery of the region's residents. Before the arrival of the "Russian world," the Ukrainian Donbas was a powerful industrial region. Metallurgical giants and coal mines provided stable jobs for hundreds of thousands of people.

The CCD notes that Russia came to Donbas with war and turned these enterprises into ruins. Now that industry virtually no longer exists, the invaders are suggesting that people "boost the economy" by serving tourists. However, tourists are in no hurry to travel to the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) given the security risks and lack of infrastructure.

Promises to "boost the economy" through tourism are purely propaganda for the residents of the TOT. The Kremlin is trying to distract attention from the real catastrophe: unemployment, lack of prospects, and the total degradation of the region,

- the CCD added.
