The number of UAV crews in Ukraine's army has increased 7-fold in a year. The Defense Minister discussed the supply of drones. This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, reports UNN.
"I held a working meeting with representatives of the Armed Forces, the State Special Communications Service and the Ministry of Defense. We analyzed in detail the data for each military unit: how many drones are already in use, how many are in storage, and how many have been lost," Umerov wrote.
According to him, based on these requests, the Ministry of Defense determines the needs of military units and coordinates the activities of the State Special Communications Service, which ensures the conclusion of contracts and the supply of drones to the army.
The minister noted that in 2024, the army has already received a significant number of drones - bombers, scouts, FPV and other types of UAVs. This work is ongoing, even in the face of market changes.
"During the meeting, we also discussed plans for December and the first quarter of 2025, including the supply of night drones and new DeepStrike drones capable of hitting targets far behind enemy lines. Almost 30 thousand of these drones have already been contracted. Thanks to systematic work, the number of UAV crews in the army has increased 7 times over the year, and we see how rapidly the role of drones in modern warfare is growing," Umerov said.
He emphasized that supplying the brigades with drones is a priority for the Ministry of Defense, and the ministry's team is making every effort to ensure that these supplies remain uninterrupted.

This year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already allocated more than UAH 87 billion for the purchase of drones, including UAH 59 billion for DeepStrike drones.
