Doctors assess the condition of the injured fire marshal, Christopher Cuccaro, as critical but stable. He was diagnosed with a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage. According to medics, the two firefighters sustained their injuries due to the blast wave of the explosion.
The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing. On Saturday, investigators and firefighters remained at the scene as a precautionary measure. The name of the deceased civilian has not yet been released.
