In Russia, preparations for May 9 are taking place under tightened restrictions that resemble a security regime more than a celebration. This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, according to UNN.
Details
According to intelligence data, Moscow plans to partially disable communications in the city center.
In particular, mobile communications, internet, and SMS services may be restricted within the Moscow Ring Road. Similar measures are expected in other cities, including Volgograd.
Parade without equipment
The change in the format of the military parade on Red Square is specifically noted. According to the FIS, it will take place without a column of military equipment.
The Russian Ministry of Defense explains this as a "terrorist threat." A similar scaled-back format is planned in other cities, including Tomsk and Krasnodar.
For the first time since 2007, the parade on Red Square will take place without a column of military equipment, the report notes.
Instead of veterans - "SMO participants"
In Saint Petersburg, according to intelligence, it was not World War II veterans who were invited to the parade, but participants of the so-called "SMO" (Special Military Operation). The number of spectators has also been significantly limited.
This refers to a single grandstand for approximately 300 people.
Fewer foreign guests
Also, according to the FIS, a significantly smaller number of foreign leaders is expected at the parade in Moscow this year.
Only a few individuals have confirmed their participation, including Alexander Lukashenko, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Sadyr Japarov, and Robert Fico.
For comparison, representatives from a much larger number of states attended the events last year.
Instead of large-scale international representation, the guest box has been significantly reduced this year
According to the assessment of Ukrainian foreign intelligence, such changes indicate a general decrease in the scale of the event and an increase in security risks within the Russian Federation.
