Moldova will provide Ukraine with a 50% discount on transit rail freight shipments through the end of 2026 due to Russian attacks in the Black Sea. Also, starting August 17, the Kyiv–Chisinau train route will change to facilitate more convenient transfers to the airport.

Moldova will provide Ukraine with a 50% discount on transit rail shipments of Ukrainian cargo until the end of the year in response to Russian attacks in the Black Sea; it is also changing the route of the train from Kyiv for better transfers to Chișinău Airport, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said on Wednesday following an agreement with his Moldovan counterpart, UNN reports.

Following a recent conversation with Moldovan Prime Minister Vasyl Tofan, we reached an agreement on a 50% discount on transit rail shipments of Ukrainian cargo. The new arrangement is in effect from August 10 until the end of 2026

- Koretskyi wrote on social media.

According to him, "this is another practical solution for Ukrainian exporters amid Russia’s terror in the Black Sea."

"In addition, starting August 17, by agreement between the countries, we are changing the route of the Kyiv–Chișinău train. This will make transfers to Chișinău Airport more convenient and significantly faster for Ukrainians," the Prime Minister said.

"I thank the Government of Moldova for the decisions adopted. We are working to expand mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova," he noted.
