First Lady Melania Trump helped a fifth group of Ukrainian and Russian children reunite with their loved ones, continuing her humanitarian efforts on behalf of those affected by the war. Today, the reunification of five children took place 

- the statement reads. 

As emphasized by the White House, "this event is another step toward ensuring that innocent children can safely return to their homes, communities, and the people who care for them." 

While diplomacy and peacebuilding are important to these efforts, they are secondary to our shared ability to prioritize the interests of children above international disputes. Each meeting reminds us that compassion, dignity, and family can overcome even the darkest times — war. My representative and I continue to work with the governments of Russia and Ukraine to safely return children to their families and communities
