In the Odesa region, a court found a 32-year-old man guilty of raping and murdering 7-year-old Solomiya Tarasyuk. The crime occurred last summer in Odesa – the perpetrator was sentenced to life imprisonment. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, on the evening of June 18, the seven-year-old girl was riding her scooter near her home. The perpetrator, who was a neighbor of her family, while under the influence of drugs, invited the child to his home, and she agreed.
At his home, he raped her and then strangled her. The criminal wrapped the child's body in plastic wrap, placed it in a travel bag, and took it by taxi several blocks away, where he hid it in a basement near a residential building.
He also covered the girl's body with empty glass bottles so that the noise during transportation would not arouse suspicion. The perpetrator was detained a few hours after committing the crime, as the mother of the missing child had contacted the police.
During the inspection of the scene where the girl's body was found and the search of the suspect's home, law enforcement officers seized a number of physical pieces of evidence, including biological samples from the man and the child, as well as the deceased's scooter. In addition, cannabis extract was found in the perpetrator's home—a controlled narcotic substance that he had illegally purchased and stored for personal use
The detainee was charged under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 4 of Art. 152 - rape committed against a person who
has not reached the age of fourteen;
- Paragraphs 2, 10 of Part 2 of Art. 115 - intentional murder
of a minor child, combined with rape;
- Part 1 of Art. 309 - illegal acquisition and storage
of narcotic drugs without the intent to sell.
Based on the evidence collected by the police and the case materials, and taking into account the circumstances established during the pre-trial investigation, the court sentenced the detainee to life imprisonment.

A court in the Cherkasy region found a 37-year-old man guilty of raping his own minor daughter and crimes related to child pornography. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
