Hungary's Foreign Minister reacted sharply to the European Commission's response to oil transit. Szijjarto called it a scandal and criticized the proposal to use an alternative route through Croatia.

On Friday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reacted sharply to Brussels' response to the situation with the suspension of Lukoil's oil transit through Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

"A week and a half ago, together with Slovakia, we appealed to the European Commission because Ukraine has blocked part of the oil supplies necessary for the safe supply of the two countries. Yesterday, the Vice President of the European Commission, Latvian Valdis Dombrovskis, sent a letter to my Slovak colleague and me. In it, he described that Ukraine does not threaten supplies to either Hungary or Slovakia, especially since there is another pipeline through Croatia, let's use it," Siyarto wrote on Facebook.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister spoke of a "scandal" and again criticized the decision, adding that "two letters confirm that this is a coordinated action from Brussels.

Sijjarto also said that "Croatia is simply not a reliable transit country.

"It's unreliable because the price of oil transit has been increased five times compared to the average market values since the beginning of the war. It is unreliable because they have made it impossible for MOL to use long-term transportation capacity. It is unreliable because the necessary investments to increase the line's capacity have not been made, and the maximum capacity figures are based on data that have never been confirmed by anyone. - Siyarto said. - "Thus, the cessation of oil supplies from the east will leave Hungary and Slovakia at the mercy of an unreliable transit country.
