Lithuania is allocating 35 million euros for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine as part of a Czech initiative, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonite said on Wednesday, UNN reports.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already responded to this.
"I am grateful to the government and people of Lithuania for another important package of military assistance for Ukraine - 35 million euros for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine within the framework of the Czech initiative. The power of unity brings victory closer," said Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov in X.

Earlier, Lithuania supported the Czech initiative to purchase and transfer artillery ammunition to Ukraine from outside the EU.
Czech President Petr Pavel announced the possibility of purchasing artillery shells for Ukraine from third countries at the Munich Security Conference in mid-February. Pavel said that the Czech Republic had found 500 thousand ammunition of 155 mm caliber and 300 thousand of 122 mm caliber in non-EU countries.
