Prosecutors proved in court the guilt of two perpetrators of the terrorist attack near the district TCC and SP in Kamianets-Podilskyi, which they committed on the orders of Russian special services. One of the convicts - a 35-year-old man - was sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property, the 19-year-old - to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors proved that at the end of January 2025, the men established contact with a curator of the Russian special services via Telegram and agreed to carry out his tasks for money.
The 19-year-old convict, who was a minor at the time, first set fire to a transformer substation as a "test" task, and later manufactured a homemade explosive device with remote control, delivered it to Kamianets-Podilskyi, and left it in a hiding place.
The 35-year-old conducted reconnaissance near the district TCC and SP, picked up the explosives, and, fearing for his own life, handed them over via a courier who did not know that the backpack contained an explosive device.
On February 5, 2025, when the courier arrived at the building of the military facility, the curator remotely activated the explosives. One of the perpetrators provided an online broadcast of the consequences of the terrorist attack for the Russian special services.
As a result of the explosion, the 51-year-old courier died, and seven other people were injured. Cars and other property were also damaged. Both perpetrators were detained the very next day.
The court found them guilty of high treason, a terrorist act resulting in the death of a person, and illegal handling of weapons and explosives. In addition, the 35-year-old man was sentenced for illegal possession of a psychotropic substance, and the 19-year-old for illegal manufacture of an explosive device
