Rescuers continue to extinguish a large-scale fire that broke out in the Polissya Nature Reserve in the Zhytomyr region, as well as a forest fire in the Chernihiv region, UNN reports, citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Currently, as indicated, rescuers and forestry workers are extinguishing individual hotspots of forest floor fires to prevent further spread and escalation of the fire.
"To ensure continuous operations," it is noted, a rotation of the State Emergency Service personnel of the region has been carried out.
Control over the situation, the State Emergency Service reported, is also carried out from the air — UAVs are used to monitor the territory and identify possible smoldering hotspots.
"The situation is under control. Firefighting operations are ongoing," the State Emergency Service emphasized.
The large-scale fire that broke out in the Zhytomyr region on the territory of the Polissya Nature Reserve was contained the day before, on May 8, over an area of 500 hectares.
In the Chernihiv region, a forest fire has also been contained, as reported by the State Emergency Service on May 9.
"In the territory of the Desna territorial community of the Chernihiv district, a large-scale fire of dry vegetation and self-seeded plantations has been contained. The total area affected by the fire is 350 hectares. Currently, work is underway to eliminate individual hotspots and prevent the re-emergence of the fire," the State Emergency Service noted.
