Perry stated that she did not give permission for the use of her composition and does not support its use in such a context.
"I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not justify it. Seeing a message of self-worth and empowerment turned into a soundtrack for destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for,"
In the video published on the White House TikTok page, footage of military strikes is accompanied by the caption "Iran warned" and the song Firework.
Perry joined other critics of the Trump administration
According to Bloomberg, the singer became one of a number of artists who criticized the Trump administration for using their works without the authors' consent. Earlier, similar complaints were made by Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and the publishing house Kids Can Press.
