Kaja Kallas announced preparations for Moldova's rapid accession to the EU. According to the head of European diplomacy, changes of government in various EU member states have opened a window of opportunity.

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated on Friday that there is no exact date yet for the start of official negotiations regarding Moldova's accession to the bloc, although the EU wants to act quickly on this matter. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

During a meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs noted that following leadership changes in certain European countries, Chișinău finds itself in "favorable conditions" for EU accession.

"We haven't set that date yet, but it's clear that we need to move fast. That's why I also think we should act while nobody is against Moldova, because you never know when a government comes that might have, you know, a double position,"

 Kallas said.

According to her, Moldova has made progress in advancing reforms, while the unrecognized Transnistria "will not be an obstacle" on Moldova's path to joining the bloc.
