Today, around 3:40 p.m. in the Zavodskyi district of Zaporizhzhia, an armed attack on police officers occurred during a court-authorized search at the residence of a suspect in a criminal proceeding.
During the investigative actions, the man suddenly attacked the law enforcement officers, used tear gas, and inflicted knife wounds on three police officers.
Despite legal demands to cease the unlawful actions, the attacker continued to offer armed resistance and posed an immediate threat to the lives and health of the police officers. To avert the mortal danger, one of the officers used their service firearm. As a result of the wound sustained, the attacker died
Three police officers with knife wounds have been hospitalized. Medics are providing them with all necessary assistance.
A task force, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, and other specialized services are working at the scene. A complex of primary investigative actions is being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
