In the first five months of 2026, owners of luxury cars contributed 140.2 million UAH in transport tax to local budgets. This is 47.1% more than in the same period last year. This was reported by the press service of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, writes UNN.

In total, from January to May this year, the tax was paid by 8,978 car owners. Since these funds remain entirely at the disposal of local communities, such an increase means additional resources for financing local needs and infrastructure.
The largest amounts of transport tax came from owners of expensive cars in the following regions:
- Kyiv city – 40.6 million UAH;
- Dnipropetrovsk region – 14.3 million UAH;
- Kyiv region – 10.8 million UAH;
- Lviv region – 10.7 million UAH.
The list of passenger cars subject to transport tax in 2026 has been published on the official website of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine
These are cars no older than 5 years, with an average market value exceeding the threshold set by the state (in 2026 – over 3.2 million UAH).
The transport tax must be paid exclusively by the legal owner of the car (the person in whose name it is registered), not by the person who actually uses it (tenants and users by proxy).
The tax rate is fixed – 25 thousand hryvnias per year for each car.
