Reportedly, yesterday at about nine o'clock, a 53-year-old local taxi driver received an order on Dmytro Donskoho Street. However, there was a conflict between the taxi driver and the potential passenger.
The taxi driver refused to transport five people at once, as his car was designed for four passengers. Because of the refusal, one of the potential passengers began to force the driver out of the car and use force against him.
A fight broke out between the men, during which the driver took a wooden bat out of the trunk and, in defense, hit his 30-year-old opponent with it. The latter, in turn, stabbed him several times in the chest. The taxi driver died at the scene before paramedics arrived
The exact cause of death will be determined by the results of a forensic examination.
The attacker was prevented from fleeing the crime scene by members of the National Guard of Ukraine, who were patrolling the surrounding area at the time, and other witnesses.
The man's actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as premeditated murder. He was detained. According to the results of the medical examination, he was in a state of intoxication.
The issue of serving him a notice of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint in the form of detention is currently being decided. The man faces seven to fifteen years in prison.
