Ukrainians will be able to file an application for damaged housing with the International Register of Damages through Diia. This is reported in the official Telegram channel of the Diia portal, UNN reports.

Details

The Ministry of Digital Information of Ukraine has reportedly signed a cooperation agreement with the international Register of Losses based in The Hague.

Soon, every Ukrainian whose home has been damaged will be able to submit an application to the Register in a few clicks - in Diia. This is necessary to record the real scale of damage caused by russian aggression and to launch a compensation mechanism

- the statement said.

Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Mikhail Fedorov commented on the agreement.

Signed an agreement with Markiyan Kliuchkovskyi, Executive Director of the International Register of Damage Caused by russian aggression against Ukraine. The action becomes an important part of transferring and reflecting the scale of damage caused by russian aggression

- he wrote.

In the first stage, which starts in April, it will be possible to submit applications for damaged or destroyed housing. It is important that such housing must have an inspection report from the local authorities.

Mr. Fedorov noted that this is the first case of international data exchange for which Diia will be used. In the future, the Register will be able to record different categories of damage from russian aggression. Victims will be able to file claims for: damage to life and health, torture, imprisonment and sexual violence, forced displacement (in Ukraine and abroad), etc.

It is noted that in the following stages, legal entities and the state will also be able to claim damages to business or critical infrastructure.

Recall

According to Mikhail Fedorov, the Register of Losses was established under the auspices of the Council of Europe in May last year. To date, 43 countries and the EU, including the United States, Japan and Canada, have joined the Register. The main goal of the Register is to record all claims of damage caused by the war so that russia can pay fair reparations to Ukraine and Ukrainians.
