HACC grants preventive measures to three suspects in case of embezzlement of UAH 7.7 million at technical inspection in Kherson region

The HACC has imposed pre-trial restraints on three participants in a corruption scheme to misappropriate public funds allocated for technical inspections of Kherson region facilities damaged by Russian attacks. The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported on the progress of this case, UNN reports.

On April 11, 2024, the HACC investigating judge considered the motion of NABU detectives, approved by the SAPO prosecutor, to apply preventive measures to two organizers and one executor in the scheme of misappropriation of UAH 7.7 million of public funds while providing services for the inspection of facilities damaged in Kherson region as a result of Russian military aggression, namely to the owner of a private company.

Details

It is noted that the owner of the private company was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention with an alternative bail of UAH 1.5 million.

The director of the Kherson RMA Department, allegedly involved in the fraud, was released on bail of UAH 800 thousand;

The court imposed a pre-trial restraint on the third defendant, a director of a private company, in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 500 thousand.

Context

According to the investigation, the head of one of the departments of the Kherson Regional State Administration, together with the owner of a private company, organized an illegal corruption scheme and embezzled budget funds allocated for the inspection of the technical condition of 107 social infrastructure facilities in the region.

Detectives found that the cost of the technical inspection was overstated by more than 15 times. As a result, UAH 7.7 million flowed from the reserve fund of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine into the pockets of corrupt officials.
