In the final of the individual all-around, Kovtun took fourth place with a score of 86.165 points.
The 20-year-old gymnast from Cherkasy was separated from the podium by only two tenths of a point, which he lost to the vice-champion of Tokyo 2020, Xiao Zhen of China (86.364).
“Zhang Boheng, another Chinese gymnast, won silver (86.599), and Shinnosuke Oka from Japan became the Olympic champion (86.832).
Another representative of Ukraine in the final of the individual all-around, Oleg Verniaiev, finished in 8th place (84.399 points).
