Greece has approved the transfer of 24 Sea Sparrow missiles to Ukraine, which will support the Ukrainian armed forces in the fight against current threats. This is reported by Kathimerini, according to UNN.
Details
It is noted that these missiles, which have been in use for almost 40 years, are in service with the Greek Navy and Air Force and are considered unnecessary for operational use by the country's military standards.
The Sea Sparrow is a short-range anti-aircraft system made in the United States, and Ukraine already has the necessary launchers for its deployment
This transfer is part of Greece's broader military assistance to Ukraine, which includes artillery shells, weapons and ammunition.
While this assistance is in line with Greece's commitment to support Ukraine's defense efforts, it does not reduce Greece's defense capabilities in the Aegean.
Recall
The United States plans to announce $1.25 billion in military aid to Ukraine. The package will include ammunition for air defense systems, Stinger missiles, and artillery shells of various calibers.
