Matt Goetz created an account on the Cameo platform where he sells personalized video messages for $500. This happened after he withdrew from Donald Trump's nomination for US Attorney General.

Florida Republican Matt Goetz has made his first big move since dropping out of the race for US Attorney General nominated by Donald Trump - he has created an account on Cameo, a website that allows ordinary people to pay for video messages from celebrities, questionable or not, The Guardian reports, UNN writes.

Semafor's news site first reported the move on Friday. The "revelation" comes a day after Goetz withdrew from the confirmation process, having previously been criticized over an investigation by the US House of Representatives Ethics Committee into allegations of misconduct, including allegedly paying for sex with an underage girl - all of which Goetz has categorically denied.

"I served in Congress," reads the page on the website, where the past tense indicates Goetz resigned last week, ahead of the likely release of the ethics committee report and the announcement on Friday that he will not seek to return next year.

"Trump nominated me for US Attorney General (it didn't work out)," the page says. "I once fired the speaker of the House of Representatives," the page says.

It was a reference to the events of last October, when Goetz triggered the historic ouster of Kevin McCarthy, a Republican and the first speaker ever to be removed by his own party.

Cameo offers users the option to pay for messages to celebrate holidays, send birthday greetings, send a pep talk, get advice, ask a question, or perhaps reach out to Getz fans to "roast someone" with sharp insults.

On Friday, Goetz began by charging $250 per video, but soon raised the price to $500. One social media user noted that Goetz was charging "about the same price as George Santos," the serial fabulist, admitted fraudster, and Republican elected official who turned to Cameo amid a scandal that expelled him from Congress last year.

Other disgraced political figures who have turned to Cameo include Rod Blagojevich, the former governor of Illinois who was jailed for trying to sell Barack Obama's US Senate seat, a sentence commuted by Trump, and Rudy Giuliani, the New York City mayor turned Trump lawyer who is now facing financial and legal ruin.

A representative of Goetz did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Cameo said that users "will have the opportunity to personalize" their $500 request for Goetz, "for example, ask [him] to recall jokes that only he understands, share wise words, or work on his signature catchphrases.

"Don't be afraid to get creative with your request, especially for celebrations such as weddings, retirements, or bachelor and bachelorette parties that require a good laugh," the post says.
