Last night, due to enemy shelling, the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant lost power to one of the two external power lines connecting the temporarily occupied ZAES with the United energy system of Ukraine, reports UNN with reference to the Ministry of energy.
The ministry stressed that providing external power to the station, which is necessary for their safe operation, is already under threat for the third time in November. Currently, the station is powered by only one power line. If the plant is disconnected from external power at Zaporizhia NPP, another complete blackout will occur, which poses a threat to radiation safety.
"For the third time in November, one of the power lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhia NPP with the Ukrainian energy system was disconnected due to enemy attacks. Ukrainian power engineers will start restoring the line as soon as the security situation allows. Only the return of control over the occupied Zaporizhia NPP to Ukraine can guarantee the safe operation of Europe's largest nuclear power plant. Every day of the occupation of the plant brings ZAES closer to disaster," said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
