Two-time European rhythmic gymnastics champion and World Championships bronze medalist Maria Vysocanska announced her retirement from the sport at the age of 22. She announced her decision on Instagram, reports UNN.
"I don't have enough pages to tell you about all the 18 years I've been in sports! I wrote this post today because I am only now beginning to feel that I am ready to tell you very important words for me. I am finishing my sports career and you will not see me on the carpet anymore..." Vysocanska wrote.
The athlete admitted that despite her young age, she is ready to leave the sports scene and move on to new life stages.
She also thanked her mother and her coach, who believed in her and gave her a chance to prove herself.

Maria Vysoczanska, a two-time European champion, won gold at the 2020 Continental Championships in Kyiv in the team tournament and the five-ball group exercise. In total, she has won six medals at European championships, including two silver and two bronze.
At the 2023 World Championships in Valencia, Vysoczanska won her first world-class award, winning bronze in the three-ribbon and two-ball event.
The athlete also participated twice in the Olympic Games (2021 and 2024), where she took seventh place in the group all-around as part of the Ukrainian national team.
