Preparations for the adoption of further restrictions in February 2025 have already begun, the Welt am Sonntag weekly reports, citing diplomats in Brussels.
According to them, the 16th package of sanctions is intended as a “clear signal to Moscow” and will include measures against specific sectors of the Russian economy “that have not been affected by sanctions at all or have been affected insufficiently.
The 15th package of European sanctions against Russia was adopted on December 16. As the head of the EU's diplomatic service, Kai Kallas, pointed out, it is aimed “at weakening the Russian military machine and those who make this war possible, including Chinese companies.
