On Thursday, Russia struck Ukraine with a new hypersonic ballistic medium-range missile.

NATO member Turkey says it supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and provides Kyiv with military support. But it also opposes Western sanctions against Moscow, with which it has important defense, energy and tourism ties.

On Wednesday , Erdogan opposed the US decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack Russian territory, saying it would lead to further escalation, according to a statement issued by his office.
