On Tuesday, firefighters in western Libya battled a massive blaze caused by a drone strike on an oil facility the previous day, as their Mediterranean coastal city came under a series of drone attacks targeting key oil facilities, UNN reports, citing AP.

Drone strikes continued on Tuesday, hitting the city’s power plant and oil refinery, the state-owned National Oil Corporation said.

The attacks underscored the fragile security situation surrounding Libya’s critical infrastructure. In the eastern city of Benghazi, a senior officer of a self-proclaimed military group was killed Monday in a car bombing—the latest such attack in the violence-ridden North African country.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility either for the drone strikes in the city of Zawiya, located approximately 47 kilometers (about 30 miles) west of the capital, Tripoli, or for the explosion in Benghazi.
