UAV strikes in Russian regions over the past two days have affected 12% of the aggressor country's oil refining capacity. Starting on Tuesday, March 12, a wave of targeted strikes damaged three important Russian oil refineries, Bloomberg reports and UNN .

Details

Drone attacks in Russia have damaged facilities that account for 12% of oil refining capacity. This applies to three facilities in Russia:

  • A drone strike on a Lukoil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region caused a fire yesterday;
  • A similar incident occurred the next day, at one of Rosneft's largest refineries in the city of Ryazan;
  • The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the south of the Rostov region of Russia has shut down after a drone strike. This was confirmed in particular by the governor of the region, Vasily Golubev, on Telegram. Bloomberg notes that the facility has a capacity of 5.6 million tons per year, or about 112,000 barrels per day.

These cases emphasize that Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which was supposed to last for several days, is instead leading to increased danger for the Russians themselves.

The war has been going on for three years now, and businesses in different regions of Russia are suffering significant losses.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says it is "absolutely fair" to inflict damage on the Russian state in response to missile and drone attacks that kill and injure Ukrainian civilians.

I think everyone can see that our drones work, and they work at long range (...) Our ability to strike at long range is a real way to security for everyone

- Zelensky said in his address.

Recall

Drones have crashed on the territory of a petroleum products plant in Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov region, Russia, suspending the operation of the company's technological facilities.

A petroleum products plant in Novoshakhtynsk was attacked by "unknown flying objects of Ukrainian origin," which suspended its operation and disrupted the enemy's plans. This was stated by a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, during a telethon.

Earlier, UNN reported that attacks on Russian oil refineriescontinue, with SBU drones striking two refineries in the Krasnodar region at once.
