Details

MacBook Neo is a new, more budget-friendly Apple laptop aimed at the mass user and educational segment. It is positioned as a more affordable alternative to classic MacBooks, but with modern performance and basic capabilities for learning, work, and everyday use.

According to Tim Kalpan, the company is already negotiating with suppliers, as sales of the new device have significantly exceeded initial forecasts.

- Kalpan noted.

The MacBook Neo is available in four colors and two configurations, but all models run on the A18 Pro processor – a chip previously used in the iPhone 16 Pro. Meanwhile, new generations of the company's devices are already transitioning to the A19 Pro.

Analysts suggest that leftover A18 Pro chips from previous batches may have been used for MacBook Neo production. Apple initially planned to update the model only next year, but high demand could change these plans.

Some colors of the laptop have already quickly sold out. According to research firm TrendForce, the new product could increase Apple's laptop shipments by 7.7% in 2026 and boost macOS's market share to 13.2%.

The starting price of the MacBook Neo is $599, and for the educational segment, it is $499.
