A new wave of internet fraud related to alleged state payments for pensioners is being recorded in Ukraine. Perpetrators disguise themselves as official structures and attempt to trick citizens into providing personal and banking data through phishing links. This was warned by the Cyberpolice, reports UNN.
The Cyberpolice and the Pension Fund of Ukraine are urging Ukrainians to be cautious due to the spread of false messages in messengers and social networks regarding alleged new payments and "bonuses" to pensions
The perpetrators use the name, symbols, and visual style of the PFU to mislead people and encourage them to follow phishing links.
In all such cases, the perpetrators use the "urgency" factor so that the person does not have time to verify the information and follows the link or provides their data under the influence of emotions.
It is emphasized that such publications can be used to steal personal data, banking information, or access to citizens' accounts.
To protect yourself from fraud:
- verify information only on the official resources of state bodies;
- do not follow links from dubious Telegram channels or messages;
- do not enter personal and banking data on unknown websites;
- pay attention to emotional pressure in messages, particularly time limits or "urgent payments."
In case of detecting suspicious messages or fraudulent resources, it is recommended to contact the cyberpolice.
