Russia is preparing a disinformation campaign about the conditions in which prisoners of war are held. To this end, the Russian Federation plans to use media materials and Russians who have returned from captivity. This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, according to UNN.
Details
"Russia is preparing a disinformation campaign concerning the issue of prisoners of war. The Russians want to demonstrate that they supposedly treat our prisoners better than Ukraine treats Russian prisoners," Andriy Kovalenko said.
According to him, Russia has allocated resources for media events, while Ukrainian prisoners are being moved to more comfortable conditions in order to film relevant media stories that are intended to be disseminated to Western audiences.
"The Russian Federation also plans to use Russians who have returned from captivity to spread lies about the conditions of detention in Ukraine. Propaganda and lies remain tools in the war and in discrediting efforts," Kovalenko wrote.
"Ukraine has repeatedly openly demonstrated the conditions in which Russian prisoners are held, as well as the quality of their food. But the Russians will continue their attempts to lie and blur reality," said the head of the NSDC's Center for Countering Disinformation.
It should be recalled
46 Ukrainian prisoners of war who survived the explosion in Olenivka continue to be held in Russia without proper medical assistance. Their relatives called on the authorities to take decisive action, reporting torture and fabricated verdicts.
